Every Shade of Blue

No rest for these sailors as we had a guest pick up deadline of December 21st in Nassau. So on the 20th we fueled up, ate a hardy breakfast and continued on for another overnight passage from West End, Grand Bahama to Nassau.

One of our guests was going to be Addy who luckily remembered to pack her passport and then drove a Concept 2 rowing machine from Humboldt to Santa Cruz where she would row over break after visiting us.

We entered a new country with a refreshed Boat Project list, some new items and some long outstanding items.

Everyone kept busy during the many hours to Nassau:

The sunset and we all prepared for our overnight shifts.

The passage went very smoothly. We saw many cruise ships overnight and I was able to chat with other sailboats heading in the same direction on the app No Foreign Land which has a chat feature with other boats. One boat was Life on Mars which is family with a dog, three kids and parents. They also sold their house (New Jersey) and moved on board full time. We ended up becoming friends and hanging out in the weeks to come.

We arrived at Palm Cay Marina on the South side of Nassau to await the Fleming Family and Addy. Marinas are a great place to fuel up, finish cleaning the boat and they often have a gym to get a good workout. Of course we had to raise the Cal Poly Humboldt flag, though it ended up upside down.

A toilet tutorial is an important part of boat guests. No one wants a clogged toilet and Nate definitely doesn’t want to fix a broken toilet.

Everyone and every bag arrived. Auntie Jo (Nate’s sister) came with an extra bag with christmas gifts ordered and sent to her, she also brought us a new depth finder, outdoor pillow covers and toner cartridge. It was an early Christmas for us. We ate at the marina restaurant and got ready to depart the next day.
