The Big Apple-Part II
On October 12th we happily took the subway to Harlem to meet up with a former student of Nate’s and now attends Columbia. We ate delicious thai food together. Josephine took the subway to Manhattan to study as she now felt comfortable navigating the subway after meeting up with a friend who had moved from Oklahoma to Jersey City.
The day was great for walking around and admiring all the stoops. We visited Hamilton Grange National Memorial where we got a tour of the house.
We were able to buy some space heaters in the city as our boat does not have heat. The temperatures are dropping at night making it hard to get out of our warm beds with no heat. This also means condensation inside the boat so a dehumidifier is needs to keep from having dripping ceilings.
Nate had to fix our freshwater pressure pump and Queso as usual was very curious about what was going on.
Meanwhile Addy had her first rowing “race” against Sacramento State. Officially the event was a scrimmage. Her four beat the varsity Sac State 8 boat 3 out of 4 times which was a great outcome. The team rode a bus to regatta and she got a taste of what team travel will be like. The below photo is at practice in Humboldt as is the happy beach girl
